8 Celebrity Burglaries and Famous People Who Got Robbed

Burglary is one of the worst things that could happen to you. In fact, you wouldn’t wish for it on your worst enemy. Not even a celebrity!

In recent years, several celebrities have had their homes burglarized. Often, these celebrity burglaries result in thousands if not, hundreds of thousands of dollars in loss of jewelry, designer clothes, shoes, and other personal items. A major reason why burglaries have become so common in California these days is because of the lifestyle of these celebrities.

Most openly flaunt their wealth in public, others go on social media and have no inhibitions showing off their most expensive belongings. They even reveal where they plan to travel next, or where they will be making a movie, or have their music event.

This provides the criminals a great opportunity to know the timeline when they will not be at home so that they can plan a burglary. In many cases, people on the inside are involved since most celebrities have home security, but still, these celebrity burglaries often go unsolved unless proper door alarms are installed.

So, who have been the victims of burglaries? Here are eight celebrity burglaries every homeowner needs to know:

1. Christina Milian

Christina Milian had her home in San Fernando Valley burglarized twice last year. Each time Christina was out on a tour or vacation. In each case, by the time security arrived, the burglars had vanished. Again, it is unclear what the robbers got away with.

However, reports from TMZ indicate that at least $100,000 worth of watches and gems were taken. Christina had posted images of her trips in Puerto Rico and France and both times the home was broken into, indicating that these burglars took advantage of information that these celebrities shared with their fans.

2. Viola Davis

Viola Davis, the Academy Award starlet, was at her Los Angeles home when burglars attempted to break-in. She was asleep with her husband, and both were startled to hear the sound of shattering glass as the burglars entered their home. The home surveillance video captured the silhouettes of the burglars, but they were all wearing hoodies, so they could not be identified.

Davis was lucky to escape this devastating event.

3. Kelly Clarkson

Kelly Clarkson’s rental home in Los Angeles was burglarized in 2017. Luckily, she and her family were not at home, but the burglary was caught on camera. She has stated that this is the third time she has been robbed. When asked what was stolen, she stated that materialistic things are not important as long as she and her family were safe.

Now that is an attitude all of us should have. Or, is it convenient because maybe she had incredible insurance!

4. Wiz Khalifa

In 2018, Wiz Khalifa’s home in Los Angeles was broken into, but luckily the babysitter scared off the burglars. Again, the burglars were wearing hoodies and entered the home by breaking a glass door, so it was difficult for the authorities to determine who these men or women were.

5. Alanis Morissette

Singer Alain Morissette’s home in Brentwood, California was broken into in 2017. She was robbed of nearly $2 million worth of jewelry. It seems the uninvited criminals tried to put their hands in her pocket and take everything (puns intended!).

6. Nicky Minaj

Rapper Nicky Minaj has an 11,500-square-foot home in Los Angeles that had been completely torn apart by burglars who, it seemed, were looking for something specific. The burglars made off with nearly $200,000 worth of jewelry and other valuables.

7. Robert Woods

A break-in also took place at the San Fernando Valley home of L.A. Rams player Robert Woods.

Woods was playing a match against the Minnesota Vikings when the incident took place. The rear sliding glass door of his house was smashed, and the residence was completely ransacked from inside. As usual, when the police reviewed security footage, they saw three hooded suspects with their faces covered.

The police believe that a lot of these robberies are being done by gangs who keep track of celebrity whereabouts by scouring their social media posts. While law enforcement has caught a number of individuals and recovered some property, burglars continue to target professional athletes, well-known TV personalities, and Hollywood moguls.

8. Rihanna

Singer Rihanna had her multi-million-dollar home burglarized twice in 2018. Both times she was not at home. Unlike the other celebrity burglaries in this list, there weren’t a lot of details about Rihanna’s break-in. So far, it is not clear what if any property was taken from her home.

Celebrities usually have home insurance, and they get back most of the stolen property back in cash, but in any case, a crime is still a crime. Fortunately, most of these burglaries have resulted in the loss of material things and not the loss of life. That said, it is still an area of concern as things could potentially get worse, and these burglars can get more and more confident that they can get away with anything.
